After amassing a cumulative 22 years working for The Princeton Review, our founders realized that while nationally franchised test prep companies offer great practice materials and bring impressive qualifications, there were several glaring issues with existing offerings:
Major test preparation companies stress a “by the book” approach that often emphasized structure over learning and didn’t allow instructors to adjust to the individual needs of students.
In founding Star Prep Tutors, we put the student first and decided on class sizes that are far less than half the size of major test prep companies. As much as we recognize that stacking classes can inflate profits, we won’t accept sacrificing the student experience and accordingly refuse to do so.
Major test preparation companies consistently refuse to use real SAT and College Board questions despite the College Board openly publishing thousands of questions.
While formulating your own questions can be valuable as extra practice (something we also do at Star Prep Tutors), ignoring real SAT material in your preparation is just irresponsible. Because of this, Star Prep Tutors uses a hybrid approach which uses proprietary questions as extra practice but effectively utilizes and analyzes real SAT problems.
Major test preparation companies consistently inflate the content in their classes beyond what students need to get SAT questions right.
Multinational test prep companies do this to seem more “experienced” or “knowledgeable,” but in fact waste limited student time and mental energy learning content that does not increase their score. At Star Prep Tutors, we take a “test first” approach and only focus on what our students will need to achieve their potential.
We believe that instead of running you through a cookie cutter experience trying to turn a profit, we should engage students and make them the center of our learning.
Integrity to us means prioritizing trust and respect in every aspect of our work.
We strive to be fully transparent in everything we do so our students are confident they can achieve their goals.
All our teaching content is meticulously designed to fulfill one goal: help students achieve their highest potential.
