Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of starpreptutors.com and the tutoring and test preparation services provided by Star Prep Tutors (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using our website or purchasing our services, you agree to these Terms. If you are purchasing on behalf of a student who is a minor, you agree to these Terms on the student's behalf and confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian.

1. Services

We provide SAT preparation courses, 1-on-1 SAT tutoring, and 1-on-1 academic tutoring. Our public courses and tutoring are delivered live online. In-person classes are offered only through school-sponsored programs at partner schools, under the terms agreed with each school. Program descriptions on our website are summaries and may be updated from time to time.

2. Purchases and payment

  • Prices are listed in US dollars and are due in full at checkout unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Tutoring is sold in fixed packages: 10, 15, or 20 hours of 1-on-1 SAT tutoring, and 5, 10, or 20 hours of academic tutoring. Group course pricing is provided on request.
  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full card details.
  • We may change prices at any time, but changes do not affect packages already purchased.

3. Scheduling, cancellations, and missed sessions

  • After purchase, your instructor will contact you to schedule sessions based on your availability.
  • Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a 1-on-1 session.
  • Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, may be counted as used. We will always try to accommodate emergencies.
  • If an instructor needs to cancel, we will reschedule the session at no cost to you.
  • Group course sessions run on a fixed schedule and missed group sessions are not refundable.

4. Refunds

Apart from the performance guarantees below, payments are non-refundable once tutoring has begun. If you request a refund before any session has been held, we will refund your purchase in full. Refund requests can be sent to info@starpreptutors.com.

5. Guarantees

Our SAT programs and longer academic tutoring packages carry performance guarantees. The full guarantee terms below also appear on our Our Guarantee page.

SAT Score Guarantee: 1400+ or a 150-point improvement

We guarantee that a student who completes an eligible SAT program will either score 1400 or higher on the official SAT or improve by at least 150 points over their baseline test. If neither happens, we will refund the program price on request.

Eligible programs: the Group Live Online SAT Course, school-sponsored SAT classes (online or in person), and all 1-on-1 SAT tutoring packages (10, 15, and 20 hours).

Baseline test: either an official SAT the student took before the start of the program, or the first full practice SAT taken as part of our program before the first class. The practice test must be taken timed and in one sitting to count as a valid baseline.

Official SAT score: the score compared with the baseline must come from an official SAT taken on or before the test date recommended by your instructor, and within 30 days of the end of the program. If your registered SAT is canceled, contact us and we will work with you on an alternative date.

Eligibility requirements. To qualify, the student must:

  • Attendance, group and school-sponsored classes: attend at least three quarters (3/4) of scheduled class sessions.
  • Attendance, 1-on-1 packages: miss or reschedule no more than one fifth (1/5) of scheduled sessions.
  • Complete all practice exams assigned by their instructor by the assigned due dates.
  • Complete all required homework assigned by their instructor by the assigned due dates.
  • Take the official SAT on or before the test date recommended by their instructor.

How to claim: email info@starpreptutors.com with the subject line “Guarantee Request”. Include the student's name, the official College Board score report, and the student ID number Star Prep Tutors assigned at enrollment so we can process your request.

Academic Tutoring Guarantee: one letter grade of improvement

For our 10-hour and 20-hour academic tutoring packages, we guarantee the student will improve by at least one full letter grade (for example, from a C to a B) in the class we tutor, measured from their grade when tutoring begins to their final grade in the class. If not, we will refund the package price on request.

Eligibility requirements. To qualify, the student must:

  • Send us a current grade report for the tutored class (for example, a gradebook screenshot) before the first session.
  • Have completed between 30% and 70% of the class's graded coursework before tutoring begins.
  • Use the full package before the class ends, missing or rescheduling no more than one fifth (1/5) of scheduled sessions.
  • Attend all class meetings and complete all assignments and coursework for the class after tutoring begins.
  • Complete all additional homework agreed upon with their tutor.

How to claim: email info@starpreptutors.com with the subject line “Guarantee Request” within 30 days of the final grade being posted. Include the student's name, the starting grade report, and the final grade report.

General conditions

  • Each guarantee applies once per student per purchased program or package.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method once the request has been verified.
  • Requests that do not meet the eligibility requirements above are not eligible for a refund.

6. Instructor matching

We match each student with an instructor who fits their goals and availability. If at any point you are dissatisfied with your instructor, email info@starpreptutors.com and we will match you with a new instructor.

7. Student conduct and responsibilities

  • Students are expected to attend sessions on time, participate respectfully, and complete assigned work.
  • For online sessions, students are responsible for a working device, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet place to learn.
  • We may suspend services for conduct that is abusive, disruptive, or dishonest, including academic dishonesty.

8. Accounts and the Student Hub

Enrolled students may receive access to our Student Hub. You are responsible for keeping login details confidential and for activity under your account. Access is personal to the enrolled student and may end when the program ends.

9. Intellectual property

All course materials, practice tests, questions, videos, software, and website content are owned by Star Prep Tutors or our licensors and are provided for the enrolled student's personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, share, resell, or publish them without our written permission. SAT is a trademark of the College Board, which is not affiliated with and does not endorse Star Prep Tutors.

10. No guarantee of admission

Except as stated in our guarantees, we do not promise any particular score, grade, or college admission outcome. Results depend on many factors, including the student's effort, and individual results vary.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the amount you paid for the program or package giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our website and services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, except those that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Privacy

Our use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated. Changes apply to purchases made after the update.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Star Prep Tutors is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
